Please Note: We are currently not accepting new applications for internships. Watch this space for updates on future internship opportunities.
Our internship programme is flexible and designed to make the experience mutually beneficial, and importantly to generate a public good. Towards that end, all individual internships begin with an orientation period during which students explore the learning opportunities (skills, resources and network of HUL). Based on this exposure, the student interns then craft a project that they will be working on during their internship. Group programmes usually involve a hands-on training in open source mapping technologies followed by intensive work on generating, curating and visualizing spatial data. You can check out the experiences of our past interns here.
We usually take on some extra hands who show interest in “the urban” and possess some skills. We work with groups of students as well as individual interns.
Over the last two years, we have worked with large groups of students from the Hyderabad chapter of Engineers Without Borders (from Mufakkam Jah and Gitam Colleges of Technology) and from the School of Planning and Architecture, Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University.
Our past individual interns include students from University of Heidelberg; NALSAR, Hyderabad; TISS, Mumbai; SPA, Delhi; Symbiosis College, Pune; University of Pune; EFLU, Hyderabad; Humboldt University, Berlin; National University of Singapore; Ambedkar University, Delhi; SPA, Bhopal; King’s College, London; and Prime College of Architecture, Nagapattinam.
The disciplinary backgrounds of interns have been diverse: English literature, South Asian Studies, Information Technology, Engineering, Law, Planning, Urban Policy, Development Studies, Economics, Sociology, Psychology, Architecture and Social Design.
