To Do or What To Do – Questions that ANY elderly woman in any city could be asking us.
TO DO OR WHAT TO DO, a short stop motion video presents the crux of the idea shaping ‘Meri Kahani’ a project aiming to address the question of ageing and the city.
Much is rendered invisible as our cities race to become world class cities. Many voices get drowned in the cheering that backs these races. Hyderabad Urban Lab tries to bring to light some of these invisible inaudible aspects of life in the city through stories of ordinary people and places that are integral to the ‘urban’ but remain unacknowledged.
MERI KAHANI is part of a larger project called A PLACE FOR HER.
A PLACE FOR HER is a three pronged project. Its focus is to identify those women that are not in the reckoning and to make visible their contribution to the city. The project comprises, Chai ho jaai, Women at Work and Meri Kahani.
– CHAI HO JAAI is a periodic free- wheeling discussion among women of different ages from different backgrounds, on issues that matter to them.
– WOMEN AT WORK is a textual and visual representation of women in the informal sector who subsidise the urban economy in multiple ways.
– MERI KAHANI is a compilation of life stories of elderly women that have lived in and contributed to the city to it and refuse to be marginal.
